Cllr Lumsden is executive committee member for Finance. He is pushing the sale through as part of his aim to raise over £50 million this year towards Lambeth's historic debts. This is a tough job, but we just don't accept that the way to do it is to sell off such special, useful and important sites as the Orchard Centre. Unfortunately, his attitude so far has been uncompromising. This means that our strategy has to be to make the sale of the Orchard Centre politically very difficult. At the end of the day, the decision is a political one. If selling the Orchard would make a huge amount of trouble, then maybe they will delay or cancel it. It's up to us to make sure that happens. The more people that let Cllr Lumsden know that they disapprove of this plan, the better, so please get in touch with him by one of the methods below: Write a letter to Cllr Lumsden. Click this link to download an outline text, then add your name and address, add to/or alter the text to say just what you think, print it out and post it. •Attend his weekly 'Surgery' meeting. All councillors
have 'Surgeries' - to which anyone can turn up and put questions. Cllr
